With nearly six months in the CMO role at PROS, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than participating in our customer conference, PROS Outperform 2018. Last week, PROS hosted our customers, prospects and partners in Houston for our annual event. What a great experience! I wanted to share my top five takeaways.
1. PROS Customers are Leading the Way
When it comes to digital transformation, PROS customers are leading the way. We had a number of customers tell their stories of digital transformation at the event. Our three customer keynotes – Emirates Airline, Land O’Lakes, and Greyhound – each told compelling stories about how they are transforming their companies and driving positive results. Andy Kaplinsky, Greyhound’s Chief Commercial Officer, walked attendees through how the company had undertaken a near-textbook transformation in a session aptly titled “The Old Dog Has Learned New Tricks.” Each customer who took the stage had a compelling story to share.
2. It Takes a Village, or In This Case, an Ecosystem
PROS made several exciting announcements at the event which highlighted the expansion of its ecosystem. At the beginning of the week, we announced the inclusion of PROS Smart CPQ solution in the Microsoft Technology Centers around the globe. PROS was selected as one of the inaugural manufacturing partners because of its ability to help manufacturers streamline their selling processes. During the CEO keynote, Andres Reiner announced an expanded relationship with SAP to provide a one-stop commerce and merchandising solution for airlines. After partnering for nearly a decade, we have many customers who rely on PROS and SAP together to power an intelligent commerce experience. We also announced integration with leading eCommerce providers including Salesforce CloudCraze and SAP® Hybris®. We will announce additional out-of-the box integrations with other platforms in the coming months.
3. It All Comes Back to Customer Experience
There were many conversations that took place around digital transformation, eCommerce and artificial intelligence. Regardless of the conversation, it always came back to what it meant for the customer. With technology available today, especially around dynamic pricing AI, PROS can ensure that companies provide an optimized customer experience that is personalized and consistent across channels. As companies drive more business through eCommerce, it is critical that customers have a consistent experience as they move from channel to channel.
4. How You Lead Matters
Digital transformation represents a tremendous opportunity for organizations and success is about more than technology. Simply implementing technology won’t help you reap the benefits. Jim Collins shared lessons in how leaders can help drive lasting change in a company. And, as Microsoft’s Toni Townes-Whitley told attendees, you need a culture that is ready to engage and learn in order to thrive amidst the opportunities that the technologies will enable.
5. The Time to Move is Now
I walked away from Outperform being more convinced than ever that companies need to move now to transform their organizations. There are significant gains companies can make by transforming their business using solutions that help them accelerate their revenue. As PROS CEO Andres Reiner commented in his keynote, McKinsey found that first movers achieve double the revenue growth of digital laggards.
I’m looking forward to working with our PROS customers and prospects to help them transform their businesses so that they continue to lead their respective markets. Thank you to all those that attended the event and shared their experiences. I can’t wait for Outperform 2019.
